What's New - SNAP Eastern Queens

August 2010

CENTER DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

SNAP was a cool place to be during the heat wave of July! We had a wonderful BBQ in honor of July 4th, and our chorus entertained everyone with their beautiful voices. Our participants stayed at SNAP for Movie Tuesdays and started to play pool on our new pool table! The Doo Wop luncheon was enjoyed by all as people tapped their feet, snapped their fingers and sang along with the songs of the 1950's.

As August heats up, so do the programs at SNAP! Our Luau will include a hula lesson, and beach music. I hope you join us in your favorite Hawaiian shirt or grass skirt if you have them!! We will be rooting for our own NY Mets at Citifield hoping that their bats heat up! The New York State Attorney General's office will present a program on stopping scam artists and CVS will sponsor a personalized medication screening. There will many opportunities to spend time together at SNAP!

Our Boutique is going through a transformation! It will now be the " This ‘n That Shop". In addition to the bric-a-brac and jewelry, we will be selling personal care items such as lotions, soaps and shampoos as well as candy. Be on the look out for our grand opening in August!

Writer Takayuki Ikkaku said "What a beautiful, sunny morning. It makes you happy to be alive, doesn't it? We can't let the sun outshine us! We have to beam, too!" Wishing you many days at SNAP where you outshine the sun!!
